GayDar Nation - A right riveting read

"It's day two of the Pope's state visit to Gay UK. This morning he visited St. Mary's University in Twickenham, where he was met by a large crowd of protestors, including a posse of Gaydar Angels, highlighting the Pontiff's anti-gay stance. Much to the amusement of the gathered press, his procession took him past our bevy of winged muscle boys and not the eagerly waiting nuns at the other end of the street!

Our athletic cherubim were adorned with large pairs of golden wings, Gaydar sashes and little else.

Gaydar took part in the co-ordinated protest against the Pope and his state visit to the United Kingdom that included a visit to the home of Gaydar, Twickenham.  On the ground the Gaydar Angels were mobbed by the worlds press as they joined Richmond’s LGBT forum, human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and staff from Gaydar.
Rome based LGBT campaigning organisation, Circolo di Cultura Omosessuale Mario Mieli, also joined the protest against the Papal state visit with members of the group joining the demonstration in Twickenham. The organisation will also attend the Protest the Pope march and rally in Central London on Saturday 18 September, where they are expected to announce the launch of Europride 2011 which will take place in Rome.
Trevor Martin, managing director at Gaydar said; “This is not a protest against Catholicism. It is a protest against a homophobic individual who has divided the Church, protected paedophiles and believes condoms increase the spread of HIV. The Pope is visiting the home of Gaydar and our Angels are here to welcome the Pope to the United Kingdom that prides itself on equality, civil partnerships and gay rights.”
Some of Gaydar’s six million members have given their own comments regarding the Papal visit.
Stuart Martin, 22 from Manchester; “We live in a world where there is so much diversity but unfortunately religion does not adapt to those changes. It instead chooses to drag its heels and condemn that which it fears will change the foundations of religion.”
Galen Woltcamp, 30 from London; “It's disgusting that taxpayers are footing the bill for the Pope’s ‘State Visit’. We should never have to foot the bill for a religious leader to visit our country.”
Later today Benedict will make his way to Westminster, where he'll be addressing the Lords and Commons together in Parliament, as well as a service at Westminster abbey with the Archbishop of Canterbury.
